NAFSA 2016 Denver

At the 2016 NAFSA conference in Denver, Barton Carlyle was delighted to contribute to the NAFSA conference by participating as a Platinum sponsor, sponsoring the Presidents’ Day and Provost Summit activities. Great leadership is key to great internationalization at our institutions, and we were delighted to join NAFSA in their commitment to this important group.  It was also an opportunity to spend time with Marlene Johnson, retiring NAFSA Executive Director and thank her for 16 years of contribution to this outstanding organization.

NAFSA Denver was the largest gathering (some 9,500) for international education professionals to date.  Barton Carlyle CEO Pamela Barrett and Senior Associate for North America Martha Marie Kleinhans were delighted to collaborate with Craig Riggs, Editor of ICEF Monitor and Eddie West, Director of International Initiatives for a panel session:  “Future (Im)perfect:  Trends, Challenges and Implications in International Admissions”.  The slide presentation is available for download below.   At this year’s NAFSA we were also delighted to announce our partnership with ICEF, celebrating the launch with a limited edition anthology, “Beyond the Horizon:  The Near Future of International Education” , launched on the NAFSA soundstage and now available for download at www.icef.com/beyondthehorizon. Our workshop with Matthew Beatty from Concordia College in Minnesota, David diMaria from Montana State (and NAFSA’s IEM leadership team, congratulations David!) and Mona Menking from Kansas State University was well attended and well received.  We covered business intelligence and innovative ways to boost the success of your international enrolment program:  “Ahead of the Curve….”   Workshops are great ways to get some focus and key learning into the NAFSA experience and we were delighted to have the opportunity to work with some great colleagues – presenters and participants alike.

The session we co-presented with ETS revolved around data – and some research facilitated by ETS and the extraordinary resources of i-graduate about international students’ decision-making and factors around student choice.  The final slide presentation is available below.
